Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, July 28: In a remarkable display of environmental stewardship, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit CHESHTA of Govt. Degree College Hiranagar initiated a grand-scale plantation drive at the historic Jasmergarh Fort. The event, held under the banner of "MERI MATI MERA DESH," witnessed an overwhelming participation from forty enthusiastic NSS volunteers, along with a highly motivated team of Naresh, Manohar, Parshotam, Arun, Sohan Lal, and Ram Kumar.
The plantation drive aimed to foster ecological balance and biodiversity in the region, and the team meticulously dug 75 pits to ensure the successful planting of a diverse assortment of saplings. Carefully selected saplings, including Neem, Gulmohar, Arjan, Peepal, Guava, and Sukhchain, were chosen to enrich the region's natural ecosystem.
The successful execution of the event wouldn't have been possible without the wholehearted support of the Kali Mata Mandir administration, which played a pivotal role in facilitating the plantation drive. Their spirit of community collaboration and shared responsibility towards preserving nature's bounty was commendable.
Prof. Ajay, the dedicated NSS Program Officer, expressed the unit's commitment to promoting ecological awareness and sustainable practices among the youth. He envisioned this plantation drive as a significant step towards a greener and healthier future for the nation.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, the esteemed Principal of GDC Hiranagar, extended her invaluable support and guidance, recognizing the importance of such initiatives in building a sustainable ecosystem and preserving the environment for generations to come.
Throughout the process, Prof. Rakesh, Prof. Manjot, and Dr. Usha, among other NSS team members, played an instrumental role in motivating and guiding the volunteers, ensuring the event's resounding success.
The plantation drive at Jasmergarh Fort serves as an inspiring example of collective efforts towards environmental conservation and highlights the potential impact of youth-led initiatives in creating a sustainable and eco-friendly nation.
