Early Times Report
UKHRAL, Aug 3: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College, Ukhral, in collaboration with the Debates and Seminar Committee, organized a highly impactful awareness programme on "Angdaan Mahotsav" as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The primary objective of the event was to spread awareness within the community about the noble cause of organ donation and its life-saving impact.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Zakir Hussain Naik, the NSS Programme Officer of the College. Dr. Reyaz Ahmed Khan, a renowned medical expert from the Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, and posted at PHC Ukhral, graced the event as the Keynote resource person. In his enlightening lecture, Dr. Reyaz emphasized the critical need for organ donation, stating that around 5 lakh people lose their lives every year due to the non-availability of organs. He stressed the urgency of organ donors and highlighted that a single person has the potential to save up to 8 lives through organ donation.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr) Shallu Samyal, the Principal of the College, urged the students to actively disseminate awareness about organ donation within their communities and encourage them to register for organ donation after death. The faculty members, including Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Katoch, Prof. Iftikhar Hussain Lone, Prof. Suresh Chander, Akash Verma, and R.K Thakur, actively participated in the programme, underscoring the collective commitment towards this noble cause.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants taking a heartfelt pledge to spread the message of organ donation within their circles and extend the reach of this humanitarian cause throughout society. The efforts of the NSS Unit of GDC Ukhral, along with the collaboration of the Debates and Seminar Committee, have successfully instilled a sense of responsibility and compassion among the attendees, fostering a stronger commitment to saving lives through organ donation.
