NC dares Azad on Kashmir case
8/3/2023 11:09:45 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 3: In a major offensive, the National Conference has taken a dig at former Chief Minister and veteran politician Ghulam Nabi Azad over his claims that he has challenged the August 5, 2019 decisions on Jammu and Kashmir through senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, who is also a senior Congress leader.
Sharing his picture with Sibal, Azad had recently said: “Gratitude for the brilliant efforts of @KapilSibal sahib as he fearlessly & eloquently presented the crucial issue of #Article370 in SC today. We have been unwaveringly fighting from Parliament to the Supreme Court, in pursuit of justice for the people of J&K.”
“With unwavering hope and anticipation, we look to the SC to deliver fair judgment for the rightful aspirations of the people!,” Azad added.
But the NC Chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq took a dig at Azad challenging him. Reacting to the Azad’s remarks, Sadiq said: “You're absolutely correct, Azad Sahab. We should express our gratitude to @KapilSibal Sahab for his exceptional ability in presenting facts to the Hon. CJI and esteemed Judges. However, I would humbly suggest that your party leaders refrain from spreading misinformation & lie about Mr. Sibal representing your party. He is actually representing the @JKNC_ through Mr. Akbar Lone. As for what was said in URI. I repeat your words- ‘Tell me now who is lying and deceiving the people.’”
Another senior NC leader Imran Nabi Dar said: “GN Azad is neither a petitioner nor an applicant in Art 370 case. Kapil Sibal Sahab is not his counsel. Except for a brief call to Sibal Sahab, DPAP has made no substantial effort to participate in the proceedings. He stated he's appearing on behalf of our party MP Mohammad Akbar Lone.”
It’s for the first time in the recent past that the NC has openly confronted Azad, who floated the Democratic progressive Azad Party after quitting the government. Otherwise the NC was “seen close to the Azad lobby.”
Despite repeated attempts the DPAP leadership wasn’t available for comments.
But sources said Azad would respond to the “NC’s jibe.”
