Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 3: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Samba took a significant step towards promoting organ donation awareness by organizing an Angdaan Mahotsav Campaign on 3rd August 2023, at the adopted village, Diani. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among the community, particularly students, about the importance of organ donation and its life-saving impact.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Twinkle Suri, the Principal of GDC Samba, the entire event was meticulously planned and executed. A total of 25 enthusiastic NSS Volunteers actively participated in the campaign. The main objective was to sensitize the students about organ donation, including transplantable organs such as eyes, heart, liver, and kidneys.
The campaign commenced with a warm welcome extended to the volunteers, college staff, and students of Government High School, Diani, by Pardeep Kumar, the Sarpanch of Diani. Dr. Komal Bharti and her team from PHC, Diani, played a crucial role in educating the villagers and students about the need and significance of organ donation. Their informative lecture was followed by an interactive session, where the students were sensitized about the noble cause of organ donation, emphasizing how it can save precious human lives and provide a second chance to live a full and active life. During the session, Anuj Pandotra and Aditya, NSS Volunteers, also expressed their thoughts on the theme, further strengthening the message.
Lovelu Sambyal, the Sarpanch of Kehli Mandi, also actively participated in the campaign and sensitized the students about the importance of organ donation. The event culminated with the students taking a pledge to support organ donation.
Expressing gratitude, the Sarpanch of Diani offered a vote of thanks to all the participants, and the National Anthem was recited by everyone present at the event. Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Program Officer of GDC Samba, along with NSS Committee members, led and conducted this impactful awareness drive in the adopted village, Diani.
The Angdaan Mahotsav Campaign by GDC Samba's NSS Unit not only raised awareness about organ donation but also fostered a sense of responsibility and compassion among the students and the community. By actively engaging with the adopted village, the college has showcased its commitment to addressing critical societal issues and making a positive impact on the lives of people.
