SRINAGAR, Aug 3: With a common aim to propagate culture of serving people for the betterment of their future, J&K Bank's collaboration with major institutions like Delhi Public School (Srinagar) will reach to new heights in days to come.
This was stated by J&K Bank MD & CEO Baldev Prakash during a felicitation ceremony at DPS School Srinagar.
The Bank's MD & CEO and Pro Vice-Chairman DPS Vijay Dhar jointly felicitated Madiha Tariq and Fawaz Banday for securing first positions in recently declared CBSE results of class 12th and 10th for session 2022-23 in presence of Bank's General Manager Syed Rais Maqbool and Principal DPS Shafaq Afshan amid a gathering of students, faculty members and bank officials. MD & CEO was invited by the school management to be the chief guest on the occasion.
Highlighting the significance of quality education and financial literacy in equal measure, MD and CEO highlighted the role of J&K Bank in helping establish educational institutions like DPS Srinagar.
"It fills my heart with pride that J&K Bank - the premier financial institution of Jammu and Kashmir - has initially financed towards the creation of this great space of learning and innovation. Providing quality education to our young generation is a great service to the nation and J&K Bank will continue collaborating with institutions like DPS for upgradation of educational infra-structure. A well-drilled financial literacy campaign is also being carried out to ensure students are made aware about the basics of banking and finance from an early age" he said.
On the occasion, MD & CEO was taken on a guided tour along his team to different facilities of DPS including Library, Sports Arena and Learning Research Centre - specially established for educating and equipping specially-abled children - wherein the visitors interacted with the students and the staff.
After his interaction with specially-abled students, he said, "During the tour around different departments and sections of the school, I feel touched by the vision and the journey that have together shaped this school as one of the inspirational institutions of J&K. Particularly, I am deeply moved to see that LRC here has become the beacon of hope and light for hundreds of families whose kids with special needs and gifts are being equipped to meet and enabled to overcome the challenges of life with confidence under the guidance of highly-trained and active staff."
"For this greatly humane achievement, the entire management and staff led by the dynamic visionary couple Mr and Mrs Dhar deserve our special gratitude", he added.
Earlier, Pro Vice Chairman (DPS) Vijay Dhar stated that the bond between J&K Bank and DPS Srinagar strengthened over the years was testament to the fact that both the institutions stand united in their commitment to nurturing the future of J&K. He said, "What you see today - the first brick was laid by the patronage and involvement of Jammu & Kashmir Bank. While urging the Bank for establishing financial literacy centre in the school, he said, "Such a centre will empower our students with valuable financial knowledge and skills, equipping them to make informed decisions in their personal and professional lives."
On the occasion, he requested the Bank to treat the bank accounts of DPS Staff as official salary accounts and treat DPS at par with other institutions of J&K for extension of similar benefits and facilities. "We also expect J&K Bank to make some contribution under its CSR program towards LRC that takes care of specially-abled children who deserve our attention and empathy in plenty", he added
