GDC Khour organize mega plantation drive

Jammu, Aug 4: In a significant effort to contribute to environmental conservation and promote a greener tomorrow, the Social Forestry Division Jammu organized a Mega Plantation Drive at Government Degree College Khour under the aegis of Meri Maati Meri Desh. The initiative aimed to bring together students, faculty, local communities and environmental enthusiasts in a collective endeavour to foster ecological sustainability. The programme began with National Anthem followed by Green Pledge taken by dignitaries, staff members and students. Welcome address was delivered by DFO, Social Forestry Division Jammu followed by speech by DDC Chairman Sh. Bharat Bhushan, and DDC Vice-Chairman, Suraj Singh.Among others present were Regional Director Social Forestry Division Sh. Mohinder Gupta, DFO Social Forestry Division Alok Kumar Mourya, SDM Khour Sh. Anil Kumar, Municipal Committee Khour Chairman Deputy Ram, DDC Member Sharda Bhau, Range Officer Ramesh Chander Sharma, Block Officers, Sarpanch Sharda Devi, Jyoti Devi and Swaran Singh. Senior Faculty members Prof. Tarsem Lal IQAC Convenor, Prof. Kuldeep Raj Sharma, and Prof. Anju Devi were also present. Teaching and Non- Teaching staff of the College along with 60 NCC cadets and NSS volunteers also participated in this drive. 100 saplings of different plant varieties were planted. Speaking about the Plantation Drive, Dr. T. K. Sharma Principal GDC Khour stated, “We are thrilled to partner with the Social Forestry Division Jammu for this noble cause.
The Mega Plantation Drive at GDC Khour is a testament to our commitment to safeguarding the environment and leaving a positive impact.
Together, we can build a greener, healthier, and more resilient future”. This event was organised in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry under the able guidance of Principal of the College Dr T K Sharma.
