JAMMU, Aug 4: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of J&K National Conference, Jammu, raised serious concerns about the neglect of the border belt in the entire Jammu region by the LG-led Administration.
The senior NC leader made these remarks while addressing a meeting of party functionaries of Jammu Rural-B in connection with the upcoming ULB polls in Jammu and Kashmir, at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu.
Today’s meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Naresh Bittu, District President of JKNC Jammu Rural-B. He highlighted the disappointment felt by the present government’s failure in providing basic amenities to the people residing in border areas R.S Pura, Suchetgarh and Bishnah having three Municipalities R.S Pura, Bishnah and Arnia. He said people deprived of regular water and power supply, lack of medical facilities, inadequate infrastructure at health centres. The municipal committees have become a den of corruption.
Rattan Lal Gupta, in his address, criticized the Government for neglecting the border residents and betraying them on numerous issues. He pointed out that since the abrogation of Article 370, the miseries of border dwellers have multiplied, as the BJP Government at the Centre and present LG Administration have failed to fulfill its promises made to the border residents such as raising of Police Battalion for especially Boarder areas.
Gupta further expressed his disappointment with the lack of policies aimed at addressing the needs of the youth in border areas. He emphasized the alarming statistic that there are 13.65 lakh drug users in Jammu and Kashmir including 1.65 lacs children of 10 to 17 years of age. It is inefficient administration who is accountable for the growth of drug trafficking in the region. He asserted that frustrated in unemployed youths are easy targets for the drug mafia. He called upon the present government to take appropriate measures to control drug trafficking and unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Provincial President directed party workers to actively engage with the public and raise awareness about the key achievements and contributions of the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence that the National Conference will perform well in the upcoming ULB polls, citing the party’s strong bond with the people of J&K.
Rattan Lal Gupta assured the people of the border belt that the National Conference will prioritize providing them with the basic amenities they deserve.
In his address, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu, criticized the present regime for offering only empty slogans and false promises to the poor and downtrodden sections of society. He asserted that only the National Conference can provide justice to these marginalized groups.
Meanwhile Ashwani Kumar District Secretary Aap party joined the National Conference. Mr Gupta welcomed Ashwani Kumar in party fold and hoping Ashwani Kumar will strengthened the party at gross root level.
