Jammu, Aug 7: GCW Bhagwati Nagar, a prominent college in the region, commemorated India’s forthcoming Independence Day with an engaging essay writing competition on the theme “Challenges and Opportunities in Independent India.”
The event, organized by Dr. Mosmi Raina, Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental Sciences, aimed to encourage critical thinking and reflection among young minds on India’s post-independence journey.
The competition witnessed an overwhelming response from about 25 students of the college, who showcased their creativity and insight while delving into various aspects of challenges and opportunities that shaped India’s post-independence era.
Priya Devi, Sunaina Sharma, and Taniya Mehra emerged as the top winners, securing the first, second, and third positions, respectively. Their essays highlighted the nation’s growth, recognizing the struggles faced by the country and envisioning a brighter and more prosperous future.
The esteemed panel of judges, comprising Dr. Pavanjeet Bali, Prof. Nisha Bhagat, and Prof. Parwinder Kaur, evaluated the participants’ works and appreciated their exceptional contributions.
During the event, Dr. Meeru Abrol, the college’s Principal, delivered a motivational speech, urging the participants to cherish and honor the sacrifices made by the nation’s freedom fighters.
She emphasized the importance of patriotism and the responsibility that comes with being citizens of an independent India. Dr. Abrol also encouraged the students to identify potential opportunities that can pave the way for a stronger and more prosperous nation.
The essay competition served as a platform for students to engage in introspection, critically analyze the nation’s accomplishments, and envision a future aligned with India’s aspirations.
The event concluded with a sense of pride and enthusiasm, as the participants and organizers celebrated the spirit of independence and India’s journey towards progress and prosperity.
