After NC-Cong alliance in Kargil, PDP to fight ULB, Panchayat elections alone
8/8/2023 10:55:20 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 8: Enraged over the unilateral decision of the National Conference and Congress to forge an alliance for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is all prepared to contest the forthcoming elections on its own.
The PDP is ready to contest Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections alone as party leadership has asked local leaders to prepare lists of potential candidates.
Sources said that during the meeting with party workers at Jammu on Monday, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has asked local leaders to start the process of selecting candidates for Panchayats and ULBs elections without waiting for any understanding with the Congress or the National Conference.
Sources said that party workers are not happy with the way the local leadership of the Congress and leadership of the National Conference treating them.
As reported earlier the National Conference and Congress announced a pre-poll alliance for the upcoming LAHDC Kargil elections to be held in September this year. Both parties announced a pre-poll alliance but the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) another constituent of the I.N.D.I.A is ignored by the National Conference and Congress.
“Panchayat and ULB elections will be held soon and I want my workers to prepare and fight the elections without considering the results. In case of a win, you will be able to serve the people of your area in a better way,” Mehbooba said addressing a workers’ meeting on Monday.
