GDC Marh organises essay writing, quiz competition

JAMMU, Aug 10: Under the aegis of Higher Education Department, Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav and Meri Matti Mera Desh, NSS unit and Cultural Committee of GDC Marh organised Essay writing and Quiz Competition on 09.08.2023 and 10.08.2023 to mark the forthcoming Independence day celebrations. The programme was presided over by the worthy Principal of the college, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. He highlighted that the government of India has initiated a ambrosia of festivals for Independence day celebrations that accomplishes the dream of good governance, development, global peace, and spreading patriotic feelings throughout the nation. He also congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the faculty in organising such activities. The theme of the essay writing competition was 'Indian Democracy@ 75 years' in which about 30 students of the college participated. Vaishali Devi of BA 5th semester and Kashish of BA 3rd semester bagged jointly first position, Payal and Varun Sharma of B.A 3rd semester jointly secured second position and Sanjana of BA 5th sem and Navpreet of B.A 3rd jointly grabbed third position respectively. Open house Quiz competition was held among the students on the topics of G20 presidency, Panch Pran, Mission LIFE and Payal (BA 5th sem) secured first rank, followed by Shivani and Roshni (BA 5th Sem) secured 2nd rank and Madhu Choudhary (BA 5th sem) third rank respectively. Dr. Shakun Sharma conducted the proceedings of the competition. The competition was judged by Dr.Balwinder Saini. The two day activities were organised and coordinated by Prof.Anjana Chib (Convenor PanchPran) and Prof Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO). Prof. Anita Kumari (IQAC Convenor), Prof. Madhvi Parasher (HOD Botany), Dr. Ashu Jolly (HOD Education), Dr.Sheetal Sharma and Ravi were also present during the programme. All the students shall be felicitated by presenting Certificate of Appreciation.
