Infighting: Raina asked to camp in Valley, visit districts
8/10/2023 11:04:41 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 10: Amid complaints of internal bickering in the Bharatiya Janta Party leadership in Kashmir becoming public, the BJP President for J&K, Ravinder Raina has been asked by the party leadership to camp in the valley and to “resolve the differences on war-footing.”
Sources said Raina who has rushed to Kashmir on the instructions of the central party leadership has been asked to hold separate meetings with the disgruntled leaders and also to visit the districts one by one for an on the spot assessment.
The sources said apart from resolving the issues, Raina would have to submit a report in the national capital before the party leadership.
Sources said this morning Raina held meetings with its party leaders from north Kashmir particularly Javid Qureshi.
Sources said initially Raina had decided to hold a general meeting where all the “disgruntled groups” would be brought in to resolve the issues.
“But given the heightened emotions and to avoid any further flare-up, he (Raina) decided to hold series of separate meetings where the first one was held with Javid Qureshi,” said the sources privy to the developments.
Sources said Raina would be visiting Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Kulgam in the coming days to get a feedback from the grassroots about the possible reasons behind the bickering in the party.
Meanwhile, Raina flew to the Shri Amarnth Ji cave shrine in south Kashmir to pay obeisance and also to pray for peace and prosperity.
The sources said Raina who flew by helicopter, also prayed for solution to the internal bickering in the party.
Sources said Raina held at least three meetings with the party leaders in Srinagar in the last 24 hours and requested them not to speak to the media about the “issues.”
“Lets not make such issues public as it sends a wrong signal. We need to be united and gear up for the upcoming ULB elections with all zeal,” the sources quoted Raina as having told one of the meetings.
Despite repeated attempts Raina couldn’t be contacted for comments.
