GDC Kathua organizes plantation drive

JAMMU, Aug 10: Under Meri Maati Mera Desh Nationwide campaign, NSS Units GDC Kathua created an Amrit Vatika with 75 saplings of indigenous trees in NSS adopted village Bhagthalli of Jarai Panchayat, Kathua. Principal GDC Kathua Prof Seema Mir flagged off the plantation van along with NSS Volunteers and program officers for conducting plantation drive in the adopted Panchayat Jarai's village Bhagthali. This event was organized in continuation to series of activities to be undertaken by NSS Units from 9th August to 15th August. Shady trees, medicinally important trees, fruit trees etc were planted by NSS volunteers in the Govt Middle School Bhagthali, Primary School Chak Majra and Primary School New Basti Bhagthali. Teacher Incharge Bhupinder Gupta, Ravi Singh and Sudershan Kumar of these schools appreciated the NSS volunteers for condcting this drive in their schools. They expressed their views that there is a dire need of plantation drive in this area due to establishment of Industrial area in near to their locality. Local residents of village also participated in this plantation drive and also appreciated the efforts of volunteers to reduce the menance of industrial pollution. Event was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof Seema Mir and under supervision of NSS program officers Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Neha Bandral and Dr Suresh Sharma.
