Transport Commissioner launches "Meri Maati, Mera Desh" campaign

JAMMU, Aug 10: Transport Commissioner, J&K, Rahul Sharma today inaugurated 21 day 'Meri Maati, Mera Desh' campaign by planting saplings at Trial ground, Khanpur-Nagrota here today.
The programme, organised by the Motor Vehicles Department, Jammu in collaboration with Urban Forestry Department, Jammu, witnessed huge participation of the officers and officials of Motor Vehicle Department, Forest as well as Police Department. As many as 75 saplings of different indigenous species were planted by the participants under the "Vasudha Vandan" programme which was later followed by the Administration of Panch Pran pledge to all those present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Commissioner stressed that the main objective of organizing such programmes was to instill a sense of national pride and inspire future generations to protect our cherished heritage. He said the campaign is a unified celebration of our soil and valour and commemorating the nation's journey of freedom and progress by connecting with the land and honoring our heroes. He called upon more and more people to come forward and be a part of this campaign.
Earlier, the Motor Vehicle Department also conducted a sticker campaign in which stickers depicting Meri Mati, Mera Desh - Mitti ko Naman, Veeron Ka Vandan were pasted on the commercial vehicles.
Regional Transport Officer, Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, JKAS presented the welcome address while the proceedings of the function were conducted by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Esha Chib.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (HQ), Rehana Tabassam, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Board of Inspection (P) Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Flying squad), Neeraj Sharma, SDPO Nagrota Aakash Kohli, MVIs, SHO Nagrota besides various officials of MVD, Forest and police were present on the occasion.
