Training program on emerging trends, technological advancements in power sector organised

JAMMU, Aug 10: The Electrical Inspectorate, under the guidance of Chief Electrical Inspector, Sanjay Sharma, organized a one-day training program on 'Emerging Trends and Technologies in Power Transmission & Distribution' here today. The programme hosted in collaboration with ABB India Limited was aimed to provide technical insight into the latest technologies being introduced in the sector.
The training program witnessed active participation of around 50 engineers of the Power Development Department. The experts from respective fields delivered lectures on Gas Insulated Substations, Underground cabling system with Ring main Units, Compact Substations, Substation Automation systems for ensuring a Safe & sustainable power Supply system etc. Also, there were discussions on Green & Digital Solutions which can be placed in power systems for a sustainable future. The design considerations of the Power equipment to be installed at higher altitudes of J&K were also discussed at length.
Chief Electrical Inspector and OSD, PDD, Sanjay Sharma in his inaugural address said that the technologies are changing at a very fast pace, which we need to adapt as per our local requirements to improve the overall efficiency of the sector. He further emphasized that in addition to training programs covered in our regular curriculum, equipment specific, hands-on training programs shall be conducted through the respective Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Research and Development (R&D) experts of the industry as a regular feature. He also informed that all new sub-stations in J&K are being built with latest state of the art technologies and the old & obsolete equipments are being phased out in a gradual manner to create a robust power system in J&K.
During the program, a field visit to newly commissioned Chowadhi Grid sub-station equipped with latest technologies was also organized for the participants by organizing team of Electrical inspectorate, comprising of Anil Abrol AEE, Gulshan Kumar AEE, Samir Sharma AEE and Divya Gupta AE.
