Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 10: After evading arrest for a period of nine years, an absconding accused named Bilal Ahmed Handoo, also known as Doctor Sahib, has been apprehended by a special team from the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch in Jammu.
Bilal Ahmed Handoo, son of Abdul Karim Handoo and resident of Firdous Colony Bemina, Srinagar, was wanted in connection with a case registered under FIR No. 23/2012. The charges against him include Sections 419, 420, and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), and the case was being handled by the Crime Branch Jammu. The case pertains to allegations of hatching a criminal conspiracy to deceive the complainant and fraudulently take his hard-earned money under the pretext of arranging government jobs for his children.
Despite his attempts to avoid arrest by frequently changing his locations over the past nine years, Bilal Ahmed Handoo was finally apprehended. The charge-sheet against him and his co-accused had been presented before the court in 2014, highlighting their involvement in cheating and fraud, which were substantiated during the investigation.
Due to his continuous evasion of arrest, the court had issued an arrest warrant under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) against him. However, with his recent arrest, the accused has now been brought before the court for judicial determination. This arrest marks a significant step towards achieving justice in the case of economic offenses.
