GDC Mahanpur marks international youth day with enthusiasm

MAHANPUR, Aug 12: The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Mahanpur came together to celebrate International Youth Day on August 12, 2023. The event was marked by a declamation contest centered around the theme "Role of Youth to Achieve Sustainable Development," held under the guidance of the college's Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan.
This year's theme, "Green Skills for Youth: Towards Sustainable Development," resonated with the growing need for environmentally conscious actions among the youth. The contest witnessed enthusiastic participation, with twelve students showcasing their perspectives on sustainable development.
The contest was evaluated by Sh. Saurabh Dutta and Prof. Meena Devi, who had the task of determining the winners. Nisha Devi (Sem 5th), Mehak Thakur (Sem 3rd), and Mohint Thakur (Sem 3rd) secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively, showcasing their insightful understanding of the topic.
Dr. Sapna Devi conducted the proceedings of the program, ensuring its smooth flow. Prof. Arvind Kumar, the Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, and Dr. Balbinder Singh, the Physical Director, also enriched the occasion by delivering informative lectures. The event was graced by the presence of other esteemed staff members, including Dr. Parshotam Dass, Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, Surinder Kumar, and Jia Lal, collectively reinforcing the significance of fostering a sense of responsibility for sustainable development among the youth.
By organizing such events, Govt. Degree College Mahanpur actively contributes to nurturing socially conscious and responsible citizens, in line with the ethos of International Youth Day.
