Swift Police action leads to apprehension, seizure of suspected narcotics in Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 18: In a commendable display of vigilance and prompt action, the Jammu Police intercepted and apprehended an individual attempting to flee upon sighting a police party. The incident unfolded in the vicinity of PP Residency Road under the supervision of SHO PS City SI Mohinder Singh. The operation, which was executed under the guidance of DYSP SDPO City North Jammu Sunil Kesar and overall supervision of SP City North Kulbir Handa, resulted in the confiscation of a significant quantity of suspected narcotics.
The individual in question, identified as Salman Nissar, son of Nissar Ahmed Mir, and a resident of Sonawar Dal Gate Srinagar, was apprehended by the police team after a brief chase. During the subsequent questioning, the suspect revealed his identity and location. The police team conducted a thorough search of Salman Nissar and discovered approximately 10 grams of a substance resembling "Chitta," a known illicit drug.
Subsequent to this apprehension and the seizure of the suspicious substance, a case has been registered as FIR No.41/23 at PS City Jammu. The case falls under the jurisdiction of U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The investigation into this case is currently underway, as law enforcement officers work diligently to gather all relevant information and evidence.
The Jammu Police continue to remain steadfast in their commitment to combating the illegal narcotics trade and ensuring the safety and security of the community. This recent operation underscores the importance of swift action and effective coordination among law enforcement units in tackling the menace of drug-related activities.
