Early Times Report
SAMBA, Aug 18: Samba Police, under the vigilant leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Benam Tosh, has achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending an interstate heroin smuggler and confiscating 200 grams of heroin from his possession.
The arrested individual, identified as Yaqoob Ali, also known as Yuqo, son of Sain and a resident of Shahjadpur in Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba, was caught red-handed with the contraband. A case (FIR No.108/2023) has been registered under sections 8/21/22/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Vijaypur, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
The successful arrest took place at a special checkpoint established by the District NDPS Team and the Police Station team at Swankha Morh within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
Speaking about the accomplishment, SSP Benam Tosh highlighted that Samba Police has relentlessly cracked down on narco-suppliers, leading to the arrest of 68 hardcore narco-suppliers, including 13 female suppliers, over the past seven months. The district has become an inhospitable environment for heroin smugglers and suppliers, as the police have dismantled known heroin hotspots and hideouts. Any attempts at smuggling and supplying are being addressed rigorously under the law. Habitual heroin suppliers are being detained and incarcerated under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
The arrest underscores the commitment of Samba Police to curbing the illicit drug trade and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The district's law enforcement agencies are determined to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking and maintain the rule of law.
