8/21/2023 10:33:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 21: In a decisive move against the rampant issue of illegal mining and sale of banned synthetic threads (manja), Jammu Police has taken stringent action. Acting on specific information, police teams from PS Nagrota and PP Phallain Mandal conducted targeted raids and successfully seized four vehicles involved in illegal mining activities. The vehicles seized include one tractor trolley without registration number by PS Nagrota and three tractor trolleys, one without a registration number and two bearing registration and chassis numbers JK02CW-5750 and CZIDU530875S3, by PP Phallain Mandal.
The seizures were carried out under the guidance of SHO PS Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap Singh, and I/C PP Phallain Mandal, Sub-Inspector Ajesh Singh Jamwal, within their respective jurisdictions. The District Mining Officer of Jammu was duly informed about these actions.
These mining operations were conducted in direct violation of the orders issued by the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu Police has taken a strong stance against such activities, aiming to strictly enforce laws related to illegal mining and take appropriate action against those found in breach.
In a parallel operation, the police also conducted checks against the sale of banned synthetic threads, commonly used for kite flying. Multiple checkpoints were set up to monitor the movement of these banned items. The initiative led to the arrest of an individual identified as Avinash Goria, found in possession of 30 banned Chinese Manja (Gattu). The arrest was made in accordance with the DM order banning the sale of plastic/synthetic threads. The case has been registered at PS Domana, and the accused is currently in custody.
The general public is urged to report any incidents of the sale of synthetic threads (manja) to the nearest police station or police post. Additionally, individuals are reminded not to engage in the buying or selling of such banned items. The Jammu Police is committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community by tackling such issues head-on.
