SI recruitment scam: Charges framed against CMO BSF, 23 others

Jammu, Aug 24: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu, Anjum Ara, has framed charges against 24 individuals, including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Border Security Force (BSF), Karnail Singh, in the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Scam case.
Among the accused against whom charges were framed are Ashok Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Jaisunya Sharma, Kewal Krishan, Raman Sharma, Amit Kumar Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Sunil Sharma, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Jagdish Lal, Kashmir Singh, Atul Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Yatin Yadav alias Nittu alias Guruji alias Ramu Sir, Vikas Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ashok alias Ashok Pandit alias Gaurav Pandit, Pawan Kumar, Asheesh Yadav alias Monu, Bajinder Singh, Surinder Kumar, Surender Singh alias Commando, and Pradeep Kumar Katiyar.
The prosecution alleges that irregularities occurred in the written examination for Sub-Inspectors’ posts in the Jammu & Kashmir Police conducted by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB). The case was registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery.
It is alleged that there was a criminal conspiracy among officials of JKSSB,
M/s Merit Trac Bengaluru, beneficiary candidates, and other accused persons, resulting in gross irregularities in the conduct of the written examination. The investigation revealed that the exam was conducted by JKSSB, and the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Government of J&K.
After hearing the arguments from both the prosecution and the defense, Chief Judicial Magistrate Anjum Ara observed that there is prima facie evidence suggesting that the accused persons committed the offenses. The accused were charged with offenses including cheating, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with evidence.
The charges framed in this case underscore the seriousness of the allegations and the legal process moving forward. The case highlights the importance of ensuring transparency and fairness in recruitment processes to maintain the integrity of public institutions.
