Govt. SPMR College of Commerce celebrates successful conclusion of skill course in tourism management

JAMMU, Aug 25: The Government SPMR College of Commerce, in collaboration with the Central University of Jammu, has successfully concluded a six-month skill-oriented certificate course in Tourism Management under the Tribal Youth Engagement Project Phase - 1. The course, which commenced on February 1, 2023, aimed to equip tribal students with the necessary skills for excelling in the Tourism sector. The NSQF Level 4 course has now enabled these students to bolster their employability in this dynamic industry.
Throughout the duration of the course, students were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide them with a strong foundation in Tourism Management. The collaborative effort between Govt. SPMR College of Commerce and Central University of Jammu proved to be an effective partnership in nurturing the talents and potential of these students.
Upon successfully completing the course, students undertook both the University Level examination conducted by Central University of Jammu on July 23, 2023, and the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council Examination held on August 25, 2023. These examinations serve as a testament to the students' acquired skills and knowledge in the field.
Dr. Surinder Kumar, the Principal of the college, addressed the students, emphasizing the value of the course in enhancing their employability skills. He encouraged them to make the most of the knowledge gained during the program. He also commended the dedicated efforts of the Skill Committee, whose guidance was instrumental in the successful execution of the course.
The students were further motivated and inspired by esteemed faculty members including Prof. Barbara Koul, Prof. Savita Jamwal, Dr. Sandhya Bhardwaj, Dr. Parveen Singh, and Prof. Apfan Ali. The coordination and seamless execution of the course were overseen by Prof. Shreya Sharma, the Convenor of the Skill Committee, along with Dr. Fayza, Prof. Charandeep Handa, Dr. Roomi Rani, Prof. Anwar Ul Haq, and Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan.
The conclusion of this course marks a significant step towards empowering tribal students with relevant skills, contributing to their personal growth and India's thriving tourism industry.
