Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 25: The University of Jammu has received a prestigious recognition as it has been designated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as the nodal University for driving the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This distinction is a source of immense pride and honor for the institution.
The University of Jammu has been entrusted with a crucial role, that of executing the mandates outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, in alignment with the recommendations and regulations set by the UGC. An important facet of this initiative involves the formation of five zonal committees by the UGC, tasked with facilitating the voluntary adoption of the NEP across higher education institutions in the entire country.
With this new role, the University of Jammu is poised to play a central and dynamic role in fostering awareness, organizing programs, and providing guidance to higher education institutions within Jammu and Kashmir. The aim is to ensure the effective and meaningful implementation of NEP, thereby creating a platform for the exchange and adoption of best practices.
In a significant development, the UGC unveiled a comprehensive work plan during a recent meeting on August 18, 2023. As part of this plan, the University of Jammu is gearing up to host a symposium centered around the theme of "Skill Development and Employment" in the near future.
The Office of Dean Academic Affairs at the University of Jammu will function as the Nodal Office, responsible for facilitating coordination among various universities within the region. This commendable decision by the UGC not only underscores the University of Jammu's leadership and dedication to advancing education but also marks a pivotal step towards the successful realization of NEP-2020's transformative objectives within the Jammu and Kashmir region.
