8/25/2023 11:46:34 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 25: American Oncology Institute (AOI) located at ASCOMS Jammu has once again showcased its exceptional proficiency in the field of oncology by successfully completing a rare and intricate Uro-oncological surgery. The surgical team, led by Dr. Avinash Rajra and Dr. Sujeet Bhat from AOI Jammu, collaborated with the anesthesia team under Dr. Atul Sharma and Dr. Khurram Malik to ensure the patient’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
The patient had initially been diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder at another medical facility and was subsequently referred to AOI Jammu for advanced management. Urothelial carcinoma, also known as transitional cell carcinoma, originates from the urothelial cells that line the urinary bladder, urethra, renal pelvis, ureters, and certain other organs. The majority of bladder cancers fall into the category of urothelial carcinomas.
Following an initial round of chemotherapy conducted by Dr. Satyankar Gupta due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, the surgical oncology team at AOI Jammu executed a complex surgery. The procedure encompassed the complete removal of the urinary bladder and prostate. The surgical team employed modern techniques for tumor resection and reconstruction, ultimately leading to the patient’s successful recovery.
Dr. Avinash Rajra, a Surgical Oncologist at American Oncology Institute (AOI) Jammu, highlighted, “The multidisciplinary approach practiced at AOI Jammu not only ensures the highest quality of patient care but also contributes to improved prognosis. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in cancer treatment.”
Dr. Sujeet Bhat, also a Surgical Oncologist at AOI Jammu, underscored, “AOI Jammu remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering the best cancer care to patients in the region. Our utilization of cutting-edge technology and collaboration between various medical disciplines is a testament to our firm dedication.”
This successful completion of a rare Uro-oncological surgery joins AOI Jammu’s growing list of accomplishments. The Surgical Oncology department at AOI Jammu is renowned for its expertise, conducting around 500 major surgeries annually, covering diverse areas such as head and neck, thoracic, gastrointestinal, gynecological, urological, breast, and extremity soft tissue surgeries. Furthermore, AOI’s proficiency extends to complex reconstructive surgeries post tumor resections.
As AOI Jammu continues to redefine the standards of cancer care, patients can find assurance in receiving world-class treatment from a team of proficient professionals wholly dedicated to their well-being.
