KHOUR, Aug 26: In a collaborative effort between the NCC Unit of Govt. Degree College Khour, the Indian Army, and the State Drug Control Wing of Jammu & Kashmir Police, a Drug Awareness Programme was organized at GDC Khour. The event took place on August 26, 2023, with the aim of raising awareness among the youth about the detrimental effects of drug abuse. Approximately 150 students from GDC Khour, along with the college staff, participated in the program.
The key speakers for the program were SSP Raj Kumar and DSP Sh. Shamsher Singh. SSP Raj Kumar addressed the students, providing insights into the harmful consequences of drug consumption. He emphasized the importance of being aware of the various types of drugs present in society and advised the students to distance themselves from these substances. DSP Shamsher Singh, the other speaker, highlighted the rapid spread of drugs in society and stressed the need to curb its proliferation for the overall well-being of the community.
The initiative was spearheaded by Professor (Lt.) Arun Sharma, the NCC Officer of the College, under the guidance of Dr. T K Sharma, the Principal of GDC Khour. The collaborative effort sought to equip the youth with knowledge about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage them to make informed and healthy choices. By engaging both students and staff, the program aimed to create a supportive environment for combating drug-related issues in the community. |
