GDC Ramgarh promotes fitness on National Sports Day with Lemon, Langadi Games

RAMGARH, Aug 26: In the spirit of celebrating National Sports Day 2023, GDC Ramgarh organized a spirited Lemon and Langadi Game for its students on August 26, 2023. These engaging activities are part of a series orchestrated by the Sports Committee of the College, steered by the able guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar, the Convener of the Sports Committee, highlighted that this year's National Sports Day is aligned with the 'Fit India Movement' launched by the 'Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports' and the 'Fit India Mission'. The movement aims to encourage participation from schools, colleges, ministries, government, and private organizations. Dr. Kumar urged students to register on the Fit India portal to contribute to this nationwide fitness initiative.
Prof. Risha Kumari emphasized the significance of National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand Ji. She motivated students to actively partake in sports activities, promoting physical fitness and overall well-being.
The students of GDC Ramgarh exhibited immense enthusiasm, passion, and excitement as they participated in the Lemon Race and Langadi Game. In the Lemon Race, Ritika Manhas from Semester 5 secured the first position, followed by Shavi Malhotra in second place and Jannat Dogra in third.
The Langadi Game witnessed intense competition, with Kirandeep Kour from Semester 3 clinching the first position. Varsha Salaria secured the second spot, while Anjali Dogra and Ritika Manhas jointly secured the third position.
Faculty members present at the event included Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, and Prof. Risha Kumari. The event succeeded in promoting the values of fitness, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the students, further reinforcing the institution's commitment to holistic development.
