Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 26: Amidst widespread demonstrations led by Amit Kapoor, a prominent figure demanding the removal of smart meters and the release of members of the Yuva Rajput Sabha, Jammu witnessed a massive turnout in support of the bandh. The demonstrators expressed gratitude to the people for the success of the bandh, which aimed to highlight the issues concerning the region.
Amit Kapoor, at the forefront of the protests, led his supporters in various locations, lending their voice to the demand for the removal of the Saror toll plaza and smart meters, along with the release of detained members of the Yuva Rajput Sabha. Addressing the gathering at different venues, Amit Kapoor passionately called for immediate action on these matters, stressing that the success of the Jammu Bandh should serve as a wake-up call for the government.
Describing the bandh as a resounding success, Kapoor emphasized that the people, frustrated with the anti-people policies of the central government’s proxy administration in Jammu and Kashmir, are eagerly awaiting the upcoming elections to express their dissatisfaction.
The demands put forth during the protests included the removal of the Saror toll plaza, a halt to the installation of smart meters/prepaid meters, the unconditional release of detained protestors, and the withdrawal of all cases against demonstrators.
Kapoor affirmed that his movement will continue until the issues at hand are resolved. He criticized the central government and the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration for pursuing policies that disregard the interests of the people.
He thanked his supporters and the people of Jammu for their united efforts in making the Jammu Bandh a resounding success, asserting that today’s outcome should serve as a reminder for the government to address the pressing concerns of the public.
