8/27/2023 10:21:46 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 27: Rattan Lal Gupta, the Provincial President of JKNC Jammu, expressed concern over the failure of the current administration to safeguard the rights and well-being of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Jammu and Kashmir. He made these remarks during a day-long convention of the Party’s OBC Cell at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan in Jammu, chaired by Abdul Gani Teli, Chairman of JKNC’s OBC Cell in Jammu Province.
Abdul Gani Teli highlighted the neglect and mistreatment of the OBC community under the present regime, stressing that their issues are being ignored and overlooked. He advocated for the implementation of the 27 percent reservation as recommended by the Mandal Commission, issuance of one-time certificates for OBC community members, establishment of a separate corporation for the welfare of OBC people, and access to affordable loans for OBC youth.
Rattan Lal Gupta supported Teli’s demands, criticizing the BJP Government at the Centre for its failure to fulfill promises and bring about development in the region. He noted that basic amenities are lacking, and the people are suffering due to anti-people policies. Gupta also highlighted the need to enhance the reservation quota for the OBC community, as only 4 percent of the promised 27 percent has been implemented.
Gupta called on party workers to prepare for upcoming elections in J&K, emphasizing that the National Conference has a history of protecting the rights of weaker sections. He asserted that the party is committed to addressing the issues of all sections of society in J&K.
Other speakers, including Ajay Sadhotra and Babu Rampal, criticized the BJP for its hollow promises and anti-people policies. They urged the people to trust the National Conference to bring about positive change.
On this occasion, Abdul Gani Teli announced new appointments within the OBC Cell, including District Presidents and Block Presidents.
