Nation awaits change: Rajani Patil addresses party convention
Denounces BJP's Divisive Politics, Calls for Unity

Early Times Report

Sopore, Aug 27: The nation is eagerly anticipating a significant change. It's imperative for people to unite against the deceitful and divisive policies of the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP is governing the country in a dictatorial manner, undermining the authority of democratic institutions that guarantee people's rights. Safeguarding these institutions is of paramount importance to Congress, as they reflect the essence of our nation.
These statements were made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) J&K Incharge and MP, Smt. Rajani Patil, during a day-long party workers' convention held in the Sopore segment of Baramulla district, North Kashmir.
The convention was presided over by JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani. Notable attendees included CWC Members G.A. Mir, Tariq Hameed Karra, JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, and AICC Joint Secretary Manoj Yadav. The convention was organized by senior party leader and former legislator Haji Abdul Rashid Dar.
Smt. Rajani Patil emphasized the Congress Party's commitment to protecting democratic institutions, which were established to benefit all citizens equally. However, the BJP-led government at the center is undermining these institutions for the sake of power, which Congress finds unacceptable and intends to counter.
She criticized the BJP for engaging in divisive and hate-driven politics, labeling both practices as unacceptable not only to Congress but to all who uphold Indian democracy and its values. She urged all Indians to unite against the BJP's divisive tactics and extend support to Congress. Patil highlighted the pain and distress felt by the public and the Congress Party's active fight against the BJP's divisive politics.
Patil mentioned Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Jodo Yatra" (Unite India Journey), stating that it spread a message of love and harmony that the BJP struggled to digest. She encouraged party workers to actively engage in connecting with people at the grassroots level, underscoring Congress's commitment to serving and strengthening the public.
She also reaffirmed Congress's dedication to restoring democratic rights in J&K and called on the BJP government to expedite the restoration of statehood to J&K with full constitutional guarantees.
JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani urged door-to-door campaigns and sought people's support in defeating the BJP, highlighting the BJP's exposed flaws.
Former JKPCC President and CWC Member G.A. Mir emphasized the Congress Party's contributions and sacrifices for the nation and urged the convention attendees to carry the message of unity, peace, and love to every household.
CWC Member Tariq Hameed Karra criticized the BJP government for depriving J&K of its democratic rights to hide its failures. He highlighted the lack of development despite BJP's claims after the state's reorganization into Union Territories.
JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla blamed the BJP for youth unemployment, economic distress, and misgovernance. He called on the people of J&K to unite against the BJP in upcoming elections, be it local, state, or national.
The convention conveyed a strong message of unity against divisive politics and a commitment to upholding democratic values.
