Four accused arrested remanded to Judicial Custody

SAMBA, Aug 28: In the ongoing investigation into the abetment to suicide case of Bodh Raj from Rakh Amb Talli, Samba, Samba Police has made significant strides by arresting four accused individuals. The accused have now been remanded to ten days of judicial custody and are currently held in District Jail Kathua.
The four arrested individuals have been identified as Faqir Chand, son of Lalo Ram from Rakh Amb Talli; Surjit Kumar, son of Faqir Chand from Rakh Amb Talli; Ashok Kumar, son of Jagdish Raj from Rakh Amb Talli; and Jameet Roy, son of the late Sadhu Ram from Meen Sarkar Barjani Bari Brahmana.
The incident leading to the arrests traces back to July 20, 2023, when an alert was received at Police Post Rakh Amb Talli regarding the demise of Bodh Raj, aged 52. He had been under treatment at GMC as a case of poisoning and subsequently passed away at GMC Jammu. Following this, an inquest under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was initiated to ascertain the cause of death. Simultaneously, pursuant to court directives under Section 156 (3) of the CrPC, FIR No. 197/2023 under Sections 306/109 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Police Station Samba. The arrests followed the court's directives, with the investigation being spearheaded by SI Shabir Ahmed under the supervision of SHO Police Station Samba Rajeshwar Singh, DySP Garu Ram, and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
The accused were presented before the Hon'ble Munsiff Court Samba, where they were remanded to judicial custody for ten days. They are currently incarcerated at District Jail Kathua.
Commending the meticulous and thorough investigation, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, highlighted the professionalism exhibited by Samba Police. The department's swift actions in apprehending the accused reflect their commitment to addressing crimes promptly and proficiently.
