Rising dengue cases in Jammu raise concerns: Urgent action needed, states Raman Suri
8/28/2023 10:47:14 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: The surge in dengue cases within the region of Jammu has reached a critical juncture, necessitating immediate and coordinated intervention from health and municipal authorities. The alarming situation, compounded by the loss of a life to Dengue, has stirred a sense of urgency among citizens. Addressing this pressing issue, Raman Suri, Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K, has stressed the significance of rapid and resolute actions to quell the dengue outbreak.
Commending the ongoing endeavors of concerned departments to educate the public about preventive measures, Raman Suri emphasized the need for more aggressive and swift measures. Jammu district has witnessed a sharp spike in the number of dengue cases in a single day, with the total tally crossing 228 across Jammu & Kashmir. Swift and comprehensive actions are imperative to tackle this alarming challenge.
Raman Suri asserted, "This monsoon season has presented an imminent threat to public health. It is crucial that we don't solely rely on individual efforts to combat this crisis. A comprehensive approach is vital, which includes intensifying city-wide fogging to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and conducting meticulous dengue testing among individuals." He called upon the authorities, particularly the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), to escalate ward-wise fogging operations to control mosquito proliferation and halt further dengue transmission.
Raman Suri underlined the necessity for extensive dengue testing and provision of appropriate medical care for those affected. Health authorities should closely monitor the situation and ensure essential medical attention. He also urged authorities to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites in critical areas of the city. Foci of stagnant water and dumping sites, including the one at Manda supervised by JMC, demand urgent and thorough cleansing.
He appealed to the Mayor of JMC to sustain and intensify public awareness campaigns, enlightening citizens about dengue prevention measures and the significance of maintaining hygienic surroundings. Raman Suri emphasized, "The loss of a life due to dengue is a tragic reminder of the urgency of this situation. We cannot afford to wait! Every ward must be meticulously sanitized, and mosquito breeding sites eradicated to safeguard public health."
The executive member urged the government to act promptly and decisively in this public health emergency. He stated that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are relying on the authorities to take swift and effective measures to contain the dengue outbreak and prevent further loss of life.
