JMC Veterinary Wing launches dustbin distribution program
8/28/2023 10:47:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: In a significant step towards promoting better sanitation and waste management practices, the Veterinary Services Wing of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized a noteworthy "Dustbin Distribution Program" at Ambphalla Chowk. The initiative was geared towards ensuring proper disposal of waste generated by meat and chicken businesses and maintaining hygienic conditions in the bustling markets.
The event witnessed the distribution of 50 specially designated dustbins to meat and chicken business operators across Ward No. 9, 16, and 35. The program unfolded in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Gopal Dass Gupta, the Hon'ble Chairman of the Swachh Bharat Standing Committee, JMC, and Hardeep Singh Mankotia, the Ex-Chairman of the Swachh Bharat Standing Committee. Yash Paul Sharma, the Councilor of Ward No. 9, and Suneet Raina, another Councilor of the same ward, also graced the event with their presence.
Highlighting the significance of the program, Gopal Dass Gupta emphasized the crucial role of proper waste disposal in maintaining a clean and hygienic city. He stressed the importance of utilizing the designated JMC vehicles for waste collection to prevent the emergence of unhygienic conditions stemming from meat and chicken waste. In his address, he fervently called for the collaboration of business operators with the JMC to fulfill the vision of the Swachh Bharat (Clean India) campaign.
Suneet Raina, in a proactive move, proposed the initiation of evening auto services dedicated to the collection and disposal of waste generated by meat and chicken shops across Jammu city. This suggestion, if implemented, could play a pivotal role in further streamlining waste management practices.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma, the Municipal Veterinary Officer (MVO) of JMC, echoed the sentiment of the program by urging meat and chicken shopkeepers to adhere to Food Safety Rules and the advisories issued by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. He highlighted that such adherence would ensure that consumers receive meat products that meet hygienic standards while guaranteeing proper disposal of waste from these establishments.
The "Dustbin Distribution Program" is poised to raise awareness regarding responsible waste management within the meat and chicken business sector. By promoting hygiene, sanitation, and collaborative efforts between business operators and municipal authorities, this initiative aligns perfectly with the overarching goal of creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents of Jammu city.
