Government Polytechnic College Jammu celebrates National Sports Day with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Aug 30: Government Polytechnic College Jammu marked National Sports Day with fervor and enthusiasm, as students from various departments enthusiastically participated in sports events including chess, carrom, and badminton.
The college's Principal, Er. Arun Bangotra, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Workshop Superintendent Inderjeet Singh was the guest of honor. Er. Arun Bangotra took the opportunity to shed light on the life and sporting journey of Major Dhyan Chand, in whose memory the day is celebrated. He urged everyone present to engage in sports activities to maintain fitness and overall well-being.
In the Badminton Boys category, Amit Chalotra emerged as the winner, while Akhileshwar Singh secured the runner-up position. In the Badminton Girls category, Neha claimed victory, and Sakshi Gupta was the runner-up. In the Chess Boys division, Akash Radha was the winner, and Ayush Mehra stood as the runner-up. The Chess Girls category was conquered by Vineeta. Aqib Mir secured the top spot in the Carrom Boys competition, while Shaila triumphed in the Carrom Girls category.
As a fun-filled conclusion to the event, a spoon race was organized, with both students and staff participating and enjoying the lighthearted activity. The chief guest distributed certificates to all the winners and runners-up in the presence of the college's staff and students.
The event saw the presence of key figures such as Er. Sukhdeep Singh, Head of Civil Engineering Department; Raj Shekhar, Head of Automobile Engineering Department; Er. Manjeet Singh, Head of Electrical Engineering Department; Amit Kumar Sharma, Lecturer of Travel & Tourism; Er. Sanam Gupta, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Department; Er. Ajay Thapa, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Department; Dheeraj Kumar, Lecturer of Travel & Tourism Department; Chamel Singh, Physical Education Mentor; Toshi Devi, Physical Education Teacher; Vinay Sharma, Instructor; Ritu Manhas; Sanjogita; Ved Pal, Instructor of Computer Science; and other staff members and students from the institution.
