Multilingual Mushaira honors legacy of Late Ghulam Rasool Kamgar Kishtwari

Jammu, Aug 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) organized a vibrant Multilingual Mushaira at the K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu, to commemorate the renowned Urdu and Kashmiri poet, Late Ghulam Rasool Kamgar (Kishtwari).
Born in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir in 1888, Kawaja Ghulam Rasool Kamgar was a prolific scholar who received an education in Persian, Arabic, Urdu, and Mathematics from Maulana Saifullah. His educational foundation in these languages led him to pursue both prose and poetry. Kamgar significantly contributed to Kashmiri literature by infusing classical Arabic and Persian styles. His accomplishments were recognized with prestigious awards including Robes of Honour & Certificate of Merit in Persian (by the President of India), Robes Of Honour (Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages), and Robes of Honour (Riasti Cultural Sangam J& K). His literary works encompassed a range of topics, and he penned translations and original compositions in Urdu, Kashmiri, Persian, and Arabic.
The event was inaugurated by the Secretary of JKAACL, Bharat Singh, who extended a warm welcome to the guests and dignitaries. He emphasized that the purpose of the program was to pay tribute to the remarkable legacy of Kamgar and to glean insights from the lives of such great individuals.
Prof. Shohab Anayat Malik, esteemed academician, was the chief guest, while B.N Betab presided over the function. Khalid Hussain was the Guest of Honour. Jnb Wali Mohd Aseer Kishtawari presented a research paper on the literary contributions of Late Kamgar Kishtawari.
The Multilingual Mushaira featured renowned writers and poets who shared their verses in various languages. The event included notable personalities such as Jenab Dildar Mohan, Dr. Shehnaz Qadri (HOD Urdu), Dr. Liyaqat Jafri (HOD Urdu), and others, who eloquently presented their poetry. The audience enjoyed an engaging literary experience encompassing a wide range of topics.
The event was skillfully hosted by Dr. Shenaz Qadri, HOD Urdu at MAM College. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor cum Cultural officer, Gojri, JKAACL, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees for making the event a grand success.
