PM Modi’s charismatic leadership
8/31/2023 10:33:21 PM

The PEW Research Center, one of the world’s leading think tanks, recently conducted a survey on public perception in India.
According to the survey, approximately 80 percent of Indians have a favorable view of their Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Moreover, almost 70 percent of the participants believe that India’s global influence has increased in recent years. With the 2024 general elections on the horizon, these survey results carry significant implications for Indian politics and governance.
The overwhelmingly positive view of Prime Minister Modi among the Indian public is a testament to his enduring support and popularity. Numerous factors have contributed to this admiration, including his charismatic leadership, assertive foreign policy, pro-business economic reforms, and a focus on national security.
One of the essential aspects of Prime Minister Modi’s appeal lies in his charismatic leadership style. His ability to connect with the masses, inspire confidence, and effectively communicate his vision has resonated with millions of Indians.
PM Modi’s speeches, particularly his skillful use of social media platforms, have helped him establish a direct connection with the citizens of India.
PM Modi’s foreign policy initiatives, such as the “Neighborhood First Policy” and the “Act East Policy,” have bolstered India’s global standing. His strong international stance, particularly towards Pakistan and China, has garnered support from Indians who perceive these countries as potential threats to India’s security and sovereignty.
Another significant factor behind PM Modi’s popularity is his pro-business economic agenda. Initiatives like “Make in India,” “Digital India,” and “Goods and Services Tax” have aimed to attract foreign investment, promote entrepreneurship, and boost economic growth.
PM Modi’s emphasis on economic development resonates with Indians aspiring for better job opportunities and improved living standards.
Indians highly value national security, especially given the country’s complex security challenges. Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering commitment to defending India’s borders, combating terrorism, and strengthening the armed forces has earned him significant support. Initiatives like “Surgical Strikes” and “Balakot Air Strike” have projected a strong and decisive image of PM Modi led government.
Prime Minister Modi’s high popularity ratings carry important implications for Indian politics. The survey indicates that he has managed to create a strong personal brand that transcends party lines, making him a key factor in the success of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP’s ability to leverage Modi’s popularity has provided them with a significant advantage in electoral contests.
Additionally, the survey reveals that a majority of Indians believe their country’s influence has grown in recent years. This perception resonates with PM Modi’s emphasis on projecting India as a global power. The survey findings also raise questions about the state of opposition parties in India. With such a high favorability rating for Prime Minister Modi, opposition parties face an uphill battle in challenging his dominance. To mount a credible challenge, opposition parties will have to adopt a robust and coherent strategy that effectively counters PM Modi’s appeal.
