Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 4: Mayor of Jammu, Rajinder Sharma, reiterated the four primary functions of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and stressed that these functions have been carried out to the utmost satisfaction of the people of Jammu.
Speaking during the inauguration of development projects in Ward number 69 at Sainik Colony, which includes the construction of deep drains and bridges, Mayor Sharma emphasized the accomplishments of the JMC. He outlined the key functions as follows:
Sanitation: Mayor Sharma highlighted the success of door-to-door garbage collection using autos, which has significantly improved the sanitation of Jammu. Garbage dumps have become rare in the city due to this service.
Street Lighting: Over 90,000 streetlights have been installed in the city, ensuring well-lit streets.
Development of Infrastructure: The JMC has focused on developing lanes, drains, and roads, with increased attention and resources allocated to individual wards.
Water Supply: The JMC is committed to providing proper water supply to the residents of Jammu. Efforts have been made to ensure good water supply, and any shortcomings are actively being addressed.
Mayor Sharma also highlighted the unprecedented early start of development works in July, as opposed to the traditional November-December timeline. He praised the availability of JMC officers from 9 am to 11 pm, which has improved the work culture and responsiveness of the JMC.
Furthermore, Mayor Sharma encouraged the public to remember the leaders who supported them during challenging times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, providing essential services like vaccination, medicines, domicile certificates, and Ayushman Cards. He urged the public to make informed decisions during elections and prioritize upright and hardworking leaders over opportunistic individuals.
The Mayor emphasized that the institution of JMC has been empowered to a large extent for the benefit of the public, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of grassroots democracy. He also noted the positive impact of the Rs. 430 crore smart city project on Jammu’s development, heralding a transformative change in the city’s outlook.
The event was attended by various individuals, including Capt Ajit Singh, Capt Pyar Singh Bhatti, Ajay Singh, Charanjit Singh, Harnam Singh, Babli, Pooja, Shanam, and others.
