3rd National Lok Adalat held at Kathua

KATHUA, Sept 9: Under the insightful directions of Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Tashi Rabstan, and also under the radiant guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua, 3rd National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2023 was held at District Court, Kathua.
The proceedings of the National Lok Adalat were inaugurated by District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua) Ashok Kumar Shavan, Chairman, today with the ceremonial lighting of the ceremonail Lamp in District Court Complex Kathua.
Seven Benches for settling the referred cases were constituted in which Bench No. 1 comprised Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Surinder Kumar Thappa, Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua.
Bench No. 2 included Kusoom Pandita, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC, Kathua.
Likewise, the Bench No. 3 was consisted of Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua.
Bench No. 4 included Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC, Basohli, Advocate, Shub Kumar, President, Bar Association Basohli.
Likewise, the Bench No. 5 had Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar and Poonam Gupta, Member, Billawar.
Bench No. 6 consisted of Rajni Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Mahanpur and Radhika Sohan, Teshildar/EMIC Mahanpur.
Likewise Bench No. 7 included Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and Vijay Kumar President, Bar Association Hiranagar.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua Rekha Kapoor Nischal, coordinated the 3rd National Lok Adalat organised at ADR Centre, District Court Complex Kathua.
The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Recovery matters, BSNL, 138 NI Act, 125 Cr.PC, Revenue matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Public Utility Services, Pre-litigation matters and also Traffic Challans.
A total number of 1433 cases were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 839 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 3,07,40,022 was realized as settlement amount.
