Reasi police foils bovine smuggling attempt in Pouni; Accused arrested

REASI, Sept 16: In its ongoing special drive against bovine smuggling, Reasi Police successfully intercepted an attempt at Pouni. During a checkpoint operation at Bhambla, a vehicle with registration number JK03B-8711 was stopped for inspection, and authorities discovered that it was illegally transporting 14 bovine animals without the required DM (District Magistrate) permission.
In response, legal action was taken, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered as Case FIR No 62/2023 under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 11 1(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at the Pouni Police Station. The accused, identified as Sahil Ahamad, son of Mohd Ashraf, and a resident of Malik Market Narwal in Jammu, was promptly arrested.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of PSI Jasbir Choudhary, ICPP Bhambla, and SHO Pouni, Purab Singh, with the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi, Neeraj Padyar-JKPS.
Reasi Police, under the guidance of Amit Gupta, JKPS SSP Reasi, has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards bovine smuggling and is fully committed to eradicating this menace from the district.
