GDC Purmandal concludes Grand Gandhi Jayanti celebrations

PURMANDAL, Oct 3: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of GDC Purmandal wrapped up an inspiring week-long celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, showcasing the enduring principles of Mahatma Gandhi to the youth. The celebrations, held with great enthusiasm, aimed to promote the values of truth, non-violence, and community service among students.
The celebration commenced on September 20, 2023, with a thought-provoking screening of a documentary titled 'Truth & Non-Violence.' This event set the tone for the week, emphasizing the significance of Gandhian ideals in today's world.
On September 22, 2023, an intra-college declamation contest saw the active participation of around 30 students who passionately expressed their thoughts on Mahatma Gandhi's timeless principles.
A slogan writing competition on September 25, 2023, allowed students to creatively articulate their understanding of Gandhiji's teachings.
In an exemplary display of community engagement, students actively participated in the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' program organized by the Block Development Office in Purmandal on September 27, 2023. This initiative encouraged students to contribute to cleanliness and social welfare.
The celebrations continued with a melodious note as a singing competition on September 30, 2023, saw students enthralling the audience with their renditions of the beloved bhajan 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.'
On October 1, 2023, the NSS Volunteers, along with college staff and the Principal, organized a Mega Cleanliness Drive in Purmandal's marketplaces as part of the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign, reflecting their commitment to a cleaner and more hygienic community.
The week-long celebrations culminated on October 3, 2023, with a heartfelt concluding ceremony. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar lit the lamp and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in the presence of staff and NSS Volunteers, underscoring the continued relevance of Gandhian principles.
Under the able patronage of the college's Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar, the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations were organized seamlessly. Prof. Shahima Akhter, the convener of the events, Prof. Mohammad Rafi, NSS Program Officer, Prof. Lakshmi Sohan, and Dr. Deepika Mehra, members of NSS, played pivotal roles as coordinators.
The week's activities left an indelible mark on the participating students, fostering a sense of responsibility, harmony, and a commitment to the betterment of society. GDC Purmandal continues to be a beacon of Gandhian values, nurturing socially responsible citizens for a brighter tomorrow.
