NEW DELHI, Oct 3: Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager of Northern Railway, conducted a review meeting with departmental heads and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) to discuss various aspects of railway operations. Key areas of focus included safety on tracks, mobility enhancement projects, business development units, and freight loading.
The General Manager emphasized the importance of providing essential amenities at all stations across Northern Railway. He highlighted the need for amenities such as increased platform heights, public announcement systems, foot overbridges, platform shelters, drinking water facilities, water coolers, seating arrangements, toilets, lighting, parking-cum-circulating areas, timetable display boards, signage, electronic train indicator boards, and dustbins. Ensuring the availability of these amenities is essential for passenger comfort and convenience.
Safety remained a top priority during the review meeting. The General Manager stressed the importance of maintaining safety standards on tracks, including track maintenance, welds, and the removal of scrap near the tracks. He emphasized the need for extensive monitoring of rail fractures and rail welds to ensure error-free train movement. Minimizing human errors in train operations was also discussed as a crucial safety measure.
Infrastructure projects were reviewed, and the General Manager urged all stakeholders to complete the projects within the stipulated timelines. Electrical safety on tracks and in relay and panel rooms was highlighted to ensure the error-free operation of trains and enhance safety.
Punctuality and the efficient movement of freight were also key areas of focus. The General Manager stressed the importance of maintaining punctuality while prioritizing safety in freight operations.
