Abrogation of Article 370 ensures Valmiki Samaj's Right to Dignity, Equality: Kavinder Gupta
10/3/2023 10:43:37 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 3: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, has asserted that the landmark decision to abrogate Article 370 by the Modi government has guaranteed the Valmiki Samaj, a historically marginalized community, the right to live with dignity, pride, and equality.
Gupta made these remarks while launching the "Basti Sampark Abhiyan" as part of Seva Pakhwada in Valmiki Colony, Ward No. 20 of Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The event witnessed the presence of prominent BJP leaders, including BJP District President Jammu South Rekha Mahajan, Councillor Rahul Kumar, Jangh Bahadur President of Valmiki Colony Verma, District Secretary BJP Jammu South Rohiin Chandan, District Publicity Secretary Sandeep Gupta, Mandal General Secretary Rachit Khosla, Ward President Satbir Singh, Rikki Gupta, and numerous women from the Valmiki Samaj. The extensive tour aimed to strengthen the party's connection with the grassroots.
Kavinder Gupta emphasized that the decision to abrogate Article 370 not only facilitated the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the nation but also brought about significant positive changes for marginalized communities like the Valmiki Samaj.
He underscored that the Valmiki Samaj, like all citizens of the country, has the fundamental right to live with dignity and equal opportunities. Gupta commended the Modi government's commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, stating that ensuring the Valmiki Samaj can live with dignity, pride, and equality is a significant step toward a more inclusive and just society.
Gupta also highlighted that the vision of "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas" will manifest on the ground as all sections of society actively participate in welfare schemes and developmental projects.
Rekha Mahajan, BJP District President Jammu South, lauded the positive developments resulting from the abrogation of Article 370. She expressed satisfaction that the decision had brought smiles to the faces of the people of the state, except for a few who had historically prioritized self-interest over the welfare of common citizens. Mahajan noted that every resident of Jammu & Kashmir now enjoys rights and benefits under various public-friendly schemes initiated by Prime Minister Modi.
Representatives of the J&K Valmiki Samaj praised the government's policies and expressed hope that under the leadership of PM Modi, the historically neglected Valmiki community would prosper. They acknowledged that the government's historic decision had given them a sense of justice and recognition, which had been lacking for many years.
