Minibuses mandated to have CCTV; Rs 1.5 crore earmarked for new crash barriers: all roads to remain open in ensuing winter

DODA, Oct 13: Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan (Chairman of DRSC) today chaired District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting to discuss road safety measures and streamlining of Transport in the district.
It was informed that an amount of Rs. 1.50 crore in addition to already released 50 lakh has been earmarked to erect new crash barriers on vulnerable points on Pul Doda- Khellani, Thathri- Kilothran, and internal and adjoining roads of Doda town.
NHIDCL authorities were directed to repair the potholes, road surface and install crash barriers on Goha- Khellani Road on urgent basis. PMGSY engineers were instructed to ensure construction of bridges allotted to them, besides managing more crash barriers on Marmat Road.
Chairman DRSC urged PWD, PMGSY, Mechanical Engineering Wing and BRO to float the required maintenance/ repair tenders by 15th of November to ensure that all the roads are immediately repaired and remain open/ operational during the ensuing winter. GREF Engineers were asked to remove encroachments on the Pul Doda- Bhaderwah- Chatergalla Road.
The meeting informed that 15 CCTV cameras have been installed in the Doda Town by MC Doda, all School buses have fitted with CCTV gadgets and directions have been passed to conduct a meeting of Minibus owners and drivers under the chairmanship of ACR Doda to motivate them to install CCTV cameras for safety of passengers.
The DC, while reviewing the road safety measures, directed all the members of DRSC to go through the Road Safety Policy, Road Safety Action Plan and Directions issued by Government and Hon’ble Courts on the Road Safety and implement the same in letter and spirit.
On the decision of previous meeting regarding Road Safety Awareness, the Chair lauded Transport and Traffic Department and asked them to intensify the awareness campaign using all means of communication.
In Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting, permission to play on various routes in the district, for Stage Carriage of 16 Minibuses, and 05 (Stage Carriage) Tata magics/ M. Maximos were approved by the authority. 05 extention of route permit cases were also approved by the RTA. The Chairman deferred 04 cases/ applications for change of route permits for additional clarification by the concerned department.
The meeting was attended by SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti, SE PWD RP Gupta, CPO Suresh Kumar, CMO Doda Abdul Hamid Zargar, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, GM NHIDCL NS Gill, DIO DIPR, Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY, EO MC Doda, representative of GREF and Traffic Police and other concerned officials.
