Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 13: Fourteen months after his appointment as president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Vikar Rasool Wani is going to announce a new PCC comprising nearly 200 office bearers.
Highly placed sources said that nearly 50 general secretaries, 25 vice presidents, four senior vice presidents, and other office bearers will be announced very soon.
“New PCC has been constituted by accommodating all senior leaders, factions, and groups of the party”, sources said and added that some ex-loyalists of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad will be properly accommodated and rewarded for betraying their political mentor.
“Some of the ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad will be given important responsibilities in the new PCC”, sources said.
As reported earlier, at least seventeen loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, including two political stalwarts who were expelled from the Democratic Azad Party (DAP), rejoined the Congress party in New Delhi on January 6, 2023.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand along with former J&K Congress chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, ex-MLA Thakur Balwan Singh, and others rejoined the Congress party.
Presently Vikar Rasool Wani is president and former minister Raman Bhalla is the working president of the party and there is no other office bearer in the party.
On August 16, 2022, the Congress high had appointed Vikar Rasool Wani as the party’s J&K chief.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi had accepted the resignation of Ghulam Ahmed Mir from the post of president, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee.
The Congress president has appointed president and working president of the J&K unit and also constituted the campaign committee, political affairs committee, coordination committee, manifesto committee, publicity and publication committee, disciplinary committee, and pradesh election committee of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) with immediate effect, the statement said.
While Wani was appointed president of the J&K unit, Raman Bhalla has been named the party’s working president in the UT.
