JAMMU, Oct 14: Sri Shwetambar Jain Sabha, in collaboration with the State Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization (SOTTO) and AYUSH J&K, organized an impactful event dedicated to Organ Donation Awareness and Multi-specialty Ayush Camp at Namah Sri Vimal Muni Bhawan in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The program featured the honorable presence of Anand Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police for the Jammu Zone, who served as the chief guest for the occasion. He inaugurated the Organ Donation Registration by registering himself on the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization (NOTTO) portal, setting a noble example for the community.
In his address, Jain extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sri Shwetambar Jain Sabha and SOTTO for their relentless efforts in creating mass awareness about the importance of organ donation within the community. He further urged the general public to actively participate in this noble campaign, emphasizing that gifting life after death through organ donation multiplies the spirit of compassion and humanism. Jain also called upon the Jain community to take a leading role in this campaign, aligning with the principles of Jainism.
Dr. Mohan Singh, Director of Ayush J&K, and Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director of J&K SOTTO, graced the event with their presence. Medical Officers and the health team from the Directorate of Ayush J&K were actively involved in the proceedings.
Following the inauguration, Anand Jain inaugurated a free Multi-specialty Ayush camp, which was organized by the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu, under the guidance of the Directorate of Ayush, J&K. The camp offered health screenings to 121 patients, focusing on non-communicable diseases and general health conditions. Additionally, free Ayush medicines were distributed to the patients in need.
As part of the awareness campaign, the Directorate of Ayush J&K set up a demonstration stall featuring Millets, IEC Materials, and Home Remedies to educate the general public about Ayurveda. This initiative is in celebration of the upcoming 8th National Ayurveda Day, which will be observed on November 10, 2023.
Dr. Vandana Dogra, Medical Superintendent of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, and Dr. Aruna Bhat, Deputy Medical Superintendent, along with their dedicated medical teams, actively participated in the awareness camp.
The event was graced by the presence of senior functionaries of Sri Shwetambar Jain Sabha, including Pankaj Jain, Sandeep Jain (State President of BJS), Puneet Jain, and other members of sister organizations of Sri Shwetambar Jain Sabha and the Jain Community.
