Early Times Report

Anantnag, Oct 25: Residents of Daksum and adjacent areas are dismayed as the heavy snow clearance machines have damaged recently macadamized road leading to Sinthan top and Kishtwar.
Residents while talking to Early Times said, the Sinthan-Kokernag Road, NHW 244 was blacktopped just one month back.
“A contractor assigned the job of snow clearance has damaged the macadam by plying machines fitted with chains on the road.
These machines are not allowed to move on this road. The contractor responsible for snow clearance should have used snow cutters with rubber tyres,” they added.
Residents said that they have brought the matter into the notice of the Sub Divisional Magistrate and other officers.
Project Engineer, Faheem said, “We have received a complaint against the snow clearance agency.
A formal notice has been served to the agency that has got the contract for a few years. Proper estimation will be done for the damaged part and it will be repaired soon.”
Residents have appealed to the Road Transport Ministry, GOI , LG Administration and Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Kishtwar to seek a detailed report from the snow clearance agency so that necessary action could be taken for this lapse.
