VIJAYPUR, Oct 27: In celebration of the 'Union Territory Foundation Day' on October 31, Government Degree College Vijaypur organized various intra-college activities to showcase the positive changes and developments that have occurred since the creation of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory four years ago.
The program was presided over by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Vijaypur, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Attri, who congratulated everyone on the creation of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory. He highlighted the various projects and developments that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir in these four years as a Union Territory. In addition to the celebration, he also discussed the issue of drug abuse and encouraged students to enroll as voters and participate in the democratic process.
The welcome address was presented by the college's principal, Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Gupta, followed by the presentation of a memento to the Chief Guest, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Attri.
Various competitions, including videography, photography, essay writing, and painting, were organized, with more than 50 college students participating. The winners in each competition were as follows:
Painting Competition: Kavya Charak (Sem.V)
Essay Writing Competition: Rupaank Aryan (Sem.III)
Videography Competition: Haroon Malik (Sem.V)
Photography Competition: Keshav Mehra (Sem.V)
The competition was judged by senior faculty members of the college, including Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), Prof. Anil Bhagat (HOD Commerce), and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English). Certificates and mementos were presented to the competition winners.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Co-Convenor of the Cultural Committee, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Vandana Gupta. The proceedings of the event were carried out by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Lecturer in Education, and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, HOD Education. Refreshments were distributed to all the participants. |
