Early Times Report

Jammu/Srinagar, Nov 1: Expressing deep concern over the increasing incidents of terrorist attacks in the Kashmir Valley and the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, the JKPCC Chief, Vikar Rasool Wani, has called upon the LG administration and the central government to shift their attention from celebrating Union Territory Day (UT Divas) and making claims of total normalcy, to address the growing threat of terrorism and ensure the safety of innocent lives.
JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani expressed shock and grief at the recent killing of police head constable Shri Gulaam Mohd Dar, a father of six daughters, as well as an outside laborer named Mukesh Kumar.
Additionally, a police inspector was critically injured in an incident in Eidgah, Srinagar. These incidents have raised serious concerns, as three targeted attacks occurred within just three days while the government was actively engaged in UT Divas celebrations and making optimistic claims.
Wani emphasized that the Home Ministry, which directly manages affairs in the Union Territory, should provide an explanation for its apparent failures in ensuring the safety of innocent civilians.
He further stressed that the central government and the LG administration should shift their focus from celebrations and misleading assertions of normalcy to combat the rising militancy and deteriorating security situation. The safety and security of civilians should be paramount.
The Congress strongly condemned the series of terrorist attacks and extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims. Wani reiterated the urgent need for the government to take measures to ensure the safety and security of innocent civilians and curb the growth of militancy. He called upon the Home Ministry to address the deteriorating situation, as it holds direct control over Union Territory affairs.
