KATHUA, Nov 10: With the completion of the second leg of activities in 107 panchayats, the ambitious 'Back to Village' Phase-V (B2V5) programme concluded in District Kathua today.
The two rounds of activities were conducted across 257 panchayats wherein designated Prabhari Officers assessed the development scenario of the allotted panchayat halqas.
On the concluding day, the visiting Prabhari Officers audited the saturation levels of different flagship programmes and schemes of the government besides listening to the issues flagged by the locals including PRI members.
At panchayat Mahanpur-A, Special Secretary Higher Education Department Dr Ravi Shankar held interaction with all stakeholders besides taking stock of the headway achieved in already flagged issues of the panchayat.
While interacting with the locals, Dr Ravi Shankar said the idea behind rolling out Back to Village flagship programme was to take appraisal of the ground situation at the doorsteps of the people and to assess the saturation levels of government schemes and programmes. He also inspected work progress of ongoing projects, functioning of government offices and held detailed deliberations on the scope of self employment opportunities available in varied sectors through different government departments.
Likewise, in other panchayats, the Prabhari officers inspected PDD, PWD, RDD, Animal & Sheep Husbandry assets, took physical review of the ongoing projects like roads, buildings, PMAY houses and rural sanitation scenario. Locals enthusiastically participated in these programmes and conveyed their views and feedback regarding the work done by various departments in their respective areas. The visiting officers also inaugurated various sports activities at many schools and took part in plantation drives.
On the occasion, the visiting officers also inspected the stalls set up by various departments to display their products and generate awareness about their welfare schemes among the general public.
