Early Times Report

Reasi, Nov 11: In a stern move against traffic violators, ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) Reasi, Tara Mani Sharma, has intensified enforcement actions in the district. The recent crackdown resulted in the issuance of challans for 56 vehicles and the collection of fines totaling Rs 61,000.
The enforcement drive, led by ARTO Tara Mani Sharma and her team, primarily targeted vehicles entering the district without proper fitness certificates, route permits, helmets, seat belts, and those involved in dangerous driving practices. The locations covered during the operation included Baradhari Chowk, Zero Morh Reasi, New Bus Stand Katra, SMVDU Kakryal Road, and Moorie Katra. During the rigorous checking process, out of 125 vehicles inspected, 56 were found violating various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. These violators were promptly issued challans or faced on-the-spot fines. An amount of Rs. 61,000 in cash was collected as fines, and an additional expected challan amount of Rs. 90,000 is anticipated. Furthermore, ARTO Tara Mani Sharma emphasized that traffic violators would not be spared, and such enforcement drives will continue to ensure road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
As part of the crackdown, five vehicles, including a mini-bus, auto, tipper, bike, and private van carrying yatris, were seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act and placed under police custody at various locations in Reasi and Katra. The ARTO Reasi issued a clear warning that strict actions will be taken against individuals found violating traffic rules in the district, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring road safety and order.
The enforcement drive is expected to continue in the future to instill a sense of responsibility among the public and promote safer road practices.
