11/11/2023 11:29:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 11: The Central Govt. Pensioners' Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) took a compassionate step forward by organizing an interactive session with the inmates of BALGRAN, a charitable home for destitute children located at Channi Rama. This novel initiative aimed to provide guidance and motivation to the 115 young residents of BALGRAN.
JK Vaid, former Director of Geological Survey of India (GSI) and a Life Member of both CGPWA and BALGRAN, spearheaded the interaction. In an engaging dialogue, Vaid emphasized the importance of discipline, skill development, and career choices in shaping a well-rounded personality. Drawing from his background in geology, he shed light on the science of geology and its role in investigating mineral resources in the country.
During the session, students from the tenth class shared their dreams and aspirations. Several expressed their desire to become teachers, doctors, Indian Air Force personnel, musicians, and even cricketers. One boy showcased his musical talents by singing a bhajan on SHREE RAM, with everyone joining in the concluding lines. The overarching theme was the commitment to serving the nation in various capacities.
Vaid encouraged the students to take proactive steps towards realizing their dreams while emphasizing the importance of acquiring good moral values and being responsible citizens. He cautioned against falling into the traps of anti-social and anti-India elements, highlighting the significance of safeguarding the country's integrity and progress.
The General Secretary of CGPWA, K B Jandial, Secretary of BALGRAN, V K Raina, and Treasurer Dr. Shashikant Goswami also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the messages of inspiration and encouragement.
As a gesture of goodwill, Vaid's grandchildren presented Diwali gifts to the children, fostering a sense of joy and camaraderie. The inmates expressed their appreciation for the interaction, signaling the success of the initiative in creating a positive impact on their lives. The event showcased the commitment of CGPWA to contribute to the welfare and development of the community.
