Div Com visits fire incident site in Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH, Nov 16: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar along with Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, DIG DKR Sunil Gupta, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, President MC Bhaderwah, and other senior officers today visited the fire incident site in Bhaderwah and met with the victim families.
Eight residential houses, some shops and a food point were gutted in a devastating fire in the area last night. Fortunately, due to active efforts of locals and administration, loss to life was prevented.
The Div Com assessed the damage, response to the tragedy by the concerned agencies, and the relief and rehabilitation being provided to the victims. He also inquired about the cause of the blaze.
After taking firsthand appraisal and assessment of the damages caused by the devastating fire incident, he asked the ADC Bhaderwah to prepare a detailed report on the cause of the devastating fire and evaluate the preparedness and response by the Fire & Emergency Department and other stakeholders.
Interacting with the fire affected people, the Div Com expressed support and sympathy with them and assured a thorough inquiry into the incident and provision of all the safety measures by the administrative side to avoid such incidents and in future. He also assured that every kind of possible support shall be provided for their immediate rehabilitation by the District Administration.
It is pertinent to mention that required tents, blankets, utensils, kitchen appliances, and other relief material have already been provided to the victim families by the district administration. Further, the Sub District Administration has been instructed to assess the losses for compensation under State Disaster Response Funds.
Meanwhile, the public has been appealed to follow all precautionary measures while handling electric/electronic gadgets, LPG cylinders and other appliances being used for heating and cooking purposes to avoid such incidents particularly during the ensuing winter season. People and the business units have been asked to keep fire extinguishers for immediate use in case of fire incidents.
